What is the minimum wage in Las Vegas?
For ordinary covered Las Vegas employment, Nevada’s statewide $12 floor applies. The same statewide floor is the starting point in Reno and Henderson. An agreed wage, public-works requirement or other applicable protection can require more. This calculator covers ordinary private employment and permits entry of a confirmed higher rate. State constitutional minimum.
The $18 boundary changes daily overtime eligibility
NRS 608.018 applies daily overtime below 1.5 times the minimum. Exactly $18 is in the weekly-overtime category under the statute’s “not less than” language. Enter a confirmed higher agreed rate to see that boundary change the result. Ordinary weekly overtime after 40 still applies. NRS 608.018.
| Four 10-hour shifts, no 4×10 agreement | Overtime hours | Employer wages |
|---|---|---|
| $12 hourly | 8 | $528 |
| $17.99 hourly | 8 | $791.56 |
| $18 hourly | 0 | $720 |
The threshold can make an otherwise identical schedule produce a lower statutory total at exactly $18. These examples do not authorize changing an agreed wage retroactively or establish an employer’s contractual obligations.
Reproduce Nevada’s daily-versus-weekly examples
The Labor Commissioner’s June 2025 opinion provides two 44-hour schedules. At $12, the first schedule (10, 4, 12, 12, 6 hours) has ten daily overtime hours and four weekly overtime hours. It uses ten, yielding $588. The second (9, 8, 9, 4, 8, 6) has two daily overtime hours and four weekly overtime hours. It uses four, yielding $552. The model takes the greater total without adding both totals together. AO-2025-05 and its fact-specific examples.
A Nevada workday is not simply a calendar date
NRS 608.0126 defines the workday as 24 consecutive hours beginning when the employee starts work. This calculator accepts one shift per worked day with the same start time and no week-boundary overlap. For example, consistent 8 a.m. starts fit that scope. Changing starts and split shifts need an actual timestamp analysis before entering daily totals. Workday definition; Commissioner’s workday interpretations.
A mutually agreed schedule of four ten-hour days can have a separate exception. Do not use the ordinary four-day example above to audit an established 4×10 agreement. The employer information page includes the Commissioner’s original and supplemental guidance for those arrangements.
Health insurance no longer chooses a lower minimum tier
The 2026 bulletin confirms that the two-tier minimum ended July 1, 2024. This tool therefore does not ask whether the employer offers health coverage to lower the $12 minimum. The current constitutional wage provision controls the general floor even where older statutory tables display prior insurance tiers. Nevada Constitution, Article 15, Section 16.
Tips are added after employer wages
Five eight-hour shifts at $12 produce $480 in employer wages. With $300 retained tips, combined gross is $780. Four ten-hour shifts without an applicable scheduling exception produce $528 in wages; the same tips bring gross to $828. NRS 608.160 prohibits using tips as a credit against Nevada’s statutory minimum. Nevada tip protection.
Annual pay depends on the distribution of hours
Repeating five eight-hour shifts for 52 weeks yields $24,960 at $12. Repeating four ten-hour shifts without a 4×10 exception yields $27,456 because daily overtime applies. Both schedules have 40 weekly hours. The annual result repeats the entered week and does not forecast a future rate change, schedule or tax liability.
